Description

The Handcrafted Wooden Pendant Light is built from solid wood and made by hand, which is why it looks considered and still survives daily use. It was designed for a hallway or living room but is not so specific that it cannot move later.

Solid Wood, Handcrafted

Solid wood keeps its finish through ordinary handling, and a damp cloth resets it when it needs it. Being handcrafted is not a spec sheet flourish here, it changes how often you reach for it. Nothing here is designed to be treated delicately.

Scandinavian Restraint

The Scandinavian styling is restrained enough to sit with older furniture as easily as new. Solid stock rather than a veneered shell is why the edges can be finished properly and why the shade has weight when you lift it. Veneer chips at exactly those edges.

Where It Works

Built for dining rooms, living rooms and hallways, over a table or in a stairwell. Colour has been kept neutral so the room can change around it.

Light picks up the warmth of the timber on its way out, which is what makes a hallway read soft in the evening. Nothing about this one is tied to a season.

Every Shade Cut And Joined By Hand

Each shade is worked by hand rather than pressed, so the grain runs where the timber decided it would run instead of where a machine forced it.

That means no two are quite identical, and the ones that reach you have been looked at by somebody who could reject them. Machine output gets counted, not judged.

The result is a fixture with a grain pattern that belongs to your house.

Solid Timber Throughout, Never Veneer

The shade is cut from solid stock rather than a veneered shell, which is why the edges can be finished properly and why it has weight when you lift it.

Veneer fails at exactly the places you touch. The rim chips, the thin face lifts near a joint, and underneath there is a board that was never meant to be seen.

Solid wood has no layer to lose, so a knock leaves a mark and not a wound.

Warm Light Filtered Through Real Timber

Light passing through and around the timber picks up the warmth of the wood on its way out, so a hallway reads soft in the evening instead of merely lit.

Metal and glass shades send back whatever they are given, which is fine at a worktop and cold on a stairwell where you want the house to feel occupied.

Wood adds something on the way through, and the finish holds that tone through years of handling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it real solid wood?

Solid wood throughout, not veneer over board. That is what allows the edges to be finished properly and what gives the piece its weight and its grain.

Will the grain match the photographs?

Closely, but never identically. Every piece is cut from real timber, so the grain and tone vary slightly. That variation is the point of buying wood rather than a moulding.

What sort of light does it give?

Warm and softened. The timber takes the edge off the source, so you get a glow through the shade rather than a hard point of light below it.

Which rooms suit it?

A hallway or living room is where it was scaled to sit, though it is not so specific that it cannot move to a dining room or stairwell later.

How do I care for the wood?

A soft, slightly damp cloth. Nothing here is designed to be treated delicately, and the finish keeps its look through ordinary handling.
